With the holidays coming up, a lot of us will be hosting family and friends. I LOVE hosting but sometimes it can be overwhelming. Here are a few tips that I follow in order to keep things running smoothly even with a toddler running around.

15 Tips For Hosting This Holiday Season
- Try to finalize menu a week ahead of time
- Make a complete grocery list & check against items you already have in pantry/refrigerator
- For large parties / shop for non-perishables 5-7 days ahead. [or grocery delivery]
- Shop for fresh ingredients/meats 2-3 days ahead of time.
- See if any of your menu items can be prepped [or cooked] in advance [1-2 days]
- Put a post-it note on the dish you plan to use for each menu item & double check number of place settings needed.
- Try to offer a mix of savory/indulgent with healthier/lighter menu items.
- Review the timing of your menu items & try to batch dishes together according to oven temps if needed. Create an oven/cooking timeline for the day.
- Try to enlist one family member or friend to be your second hand in the kitchen just before the meal is served.
- Don’t forget your tablescape! Simple can be just a beautiful as an elaborate one.
- Set the table ahead of time & serve food family-style.
- If you set out appetizers – keep it small & light so that people are still hungry for the meal.
- Set up a DIY beverage area.
- Make sure the dishwasher is empty so that plates can be loaded in right after eating.
- Don’t be afraid to ask guests to bring something! Dessert is easy.
