Wow. This blog felt a little daunting. It feels like there is so much to recap, so I’ll try my best. 🙂
I took a little mini break from regular blogging + newsletters to allow for a super full, yet flexible, summer with Roux. We really enjoyed this special time together. Our family is on the brink of quite a few new things in the works – but looking back at the summer, it was honestly time VERY WELL SPENT.
Summer With Roux
It has been the summer of sourdough practice, small group, Roux’s bucket list, baby growing/prepping, renovations, and sunshine!
I quickly realized as Roux was “graduating” from VPK that this will be our last + only summer before our new little family member joins the squad. Of course, that will include a whole new version of fun & experiences… but this was the last one with just me + him [and sometimes daddy]. That realization hit me in a way that really forced me to think about how we spent our summer. I didn’t want to hire a sitter. I didn’t want to do full-day camps. I’m sure that will be in the future, but for this summer, it was really important for us to do the summer thing together.
AND WE DID. We made a summer bucket list of all the activities he wanted to do & have been crossing things off every week. We had lots of lunch dates and did lots of outdoor workouts together. I got to watch him at little mini sports camps.
We went to the beach and the pool a ton. We saw Dude Perfect live and went to the movies. Bowling. Practiced a lot of ice skating to prepare for hockey. Roux came with me to our biggest work conference of the year.
I’ve carved out a couple of hours to work most days – but it is truly the beauty of this business I’ve built. I didn’t work my booty off to just work more. I worked hard to create flexibility in my schedule — I worked hard to create a choice. And I’m so happy I got to choose time with Roux as my primary focus for the last couple of months.
All About Baby
For anyone looking for an update on the baby, at the time of this blog, I am rounding out our 23rd week. I’m seeing a midwife again, and am really enjoying her. I’ve dusted off a lot of my reading, added some more to my list, and have been revisiting some of the audio that helped me prep for birth with my Roux pregnancy.
Loren pulled all the saved baby items from the attic. I went through everything, washed a bunch, threw away things that were ruined and melted, and learned a lot by doing research on recalled items. It has been so sweet sitting on the floor in an empty nursery remembering all the days of nursing and diapers and swaddled.
I will say so far, this pregnancy feels identical to my pregnancy with Roux. My first trimester was tough. My second trimester has been a breeze compared to the first. I have the usual aches and 4:00 a.m. wake-ups to pee. I am exercising 5 days a week and modifying as needed. I’m seeing a chiropractor once every 2 weeks, but am ready to bump up to weekly. Our PLAN A is to have a home birth.
We just recently had an anatomy scan on this babe and all looks great. The one thing I’ve been curious about & praying for – is the cord. With Roux, we had to deal with a “worrisome” cord. They thought it was a velamentous cord with midline insertion & so they brought me back for ultrasounds every few weeks to track his growth. Everything ended up being perfectly fine with Roux – and for this new babe, the anatomy scan actually showed a perfectly normal cord with proper insertion. PRAISE! We are still waiting until birth to know the gender [just like we did with Roux]. It’s been 5+ years since I was in this season of motherhood, and it really is crazy how quickly things change. It’s been a lot of fun, and for me, it has been so true that this second pregnancy has flown by.
Home Renovations
AH!! If you’ve been following along for any length of time – you probably remember we have been in renovations since the FALL of last year!! Our two downstairs bathrooms have received a major facelift and it has taken, literally, forever. We are nearing the very end & we are mostly happy with how everything turned out [haha, isn’t that just how it is!!?!]. We are expecting things like towel bars etc in a few weeks – the back ordering situation is still quite out of control. These poor bathrooms desperately needed to be updated & we did that in the best possible way. I will be SO very happy to not have contractors in the house every week – it’s not them so much as it’s the loud equipment. I’m thankful we were able to do these projects & really happy to close the door on them too.
Work
Now that Roux is about ready to go back to school, I’m getting my work schedule ready too! This means I will take new people into my business who decide to become coaches. I open my schedule for personal and small group mentoring as I help them learn the ropes of creating an online business from home – centered around health and wellness. I’ve been running fitness accountability groups throughout the summer & have enjoyed the accountability they’ve given me, personally, especially, in this new season of pregnancy. My August Fit Camp just started, and the new home fitness program that focuses on lifting and toning is now available to all my fit camp girls, and we will start enrolling for September’s online Fit Camp in about a week!
We have new flavors of our clean supplement line and just a lot of business innovations to be excited about as we head into the end of 2022. I’m so grateful to partner with such innovative minds & love being a part of the solution for so many women. It’s truly an honor to work my business, mentor my team, and support my clients – it’s amazing to me that I started this business almost TEN YEARS ago!
It’s common for women to ask me how to get started with my fitness accountability groups, learning about the business, or previous clients wanting to hop back into groups to focus on new results or habits – and the answer is, just simply email me! We will chat and decide what path is best for you, that way we keep it individualized & I get to touch base with you about your goals. My email is sayhey@brittanylegette.com.
Roux’s Big Move
Roux is getting ready for full days of Kindergarten and we are all so excited. This summer we moved him from downstairs to his upstairs BIG BOY bedroom. We are making room for the baby – but also wanted to give him time to adjust to a new room [and floor] of the house. I’d say the transition has gone pretty well. He does end up in my bed once a week or so after a bad dream, and that’s way more than he did when he was sleeping in the toddler bed in the room next to ours.
He loves his space & was super excited about the move – so I’m happy we went for it and took the summer to work out any kinks. We have a couple of weeks left of summer + we are working on simple refreshers from VPK – but not doing any strict curriculum prep or anything. We had plans to practice tying shoes – but so far, we’ve just been doing all the fun activities instead, haha! There’s still time!
I’m excited to be back in the flow of writing, creating, mentoring, and serving here online! I love this space & really appreciate all the love and support this community has offered me over the years. I have a lot of content keyed up but am always open to any suggestions from you! If you have any requests, just send them my way!
I hope you’ve enjoyed your summer & hope your family is happy!
Don’t forget to subscribe to the weekly newsletter – because that’s back too!! I share fav products, things I’m learning, what we are up to, and any other valuable thing I want to pass on!
XOXO,
Brittany
