Beachy Bubble Pony Tutorial

Whether you are on vacay, to the beach, or on a cruise your hair is usually the last thought. For me, low maintenance hair is the goal when soaking up the sun. My GO-TO beachy hair is always in the form of a braid or a pony.

These are the steps I take in order to create this easy five-minute beach look!

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • your natural hair + clip-in extensions for a thicker pony if you’d like {I have hand-tied extensions here for volume}
  • clear elastics {I use whatever is in my bag – currently Scunci brand}
  • OPTIONAL: (I did not use for this pony) volume powder to make fine/thin hair into bigger bubbles

Below is a sped-up video of me doing this hairstyle today. I broke down each step under the video! Be sure to let me know if you try out this look — tag me on Instagram or Facebook! {@brittanylegette}

I chose to do a dutch braid on either side of my hair because I knew it was going to be windy. I didn’t want the top of my head to have all those baby hairs going crazy. If it isn’t windy where you are, you can do a simple pony, or add a cute headband and then move on the pony/pigtails.

Follow these steps!

  • ONE: First, make your pigtails and wrap elastic around the hair at the base of your ears. Pull elastic nice and tight — you’ll do this on both sides. Be sure to pull our hair out you want to frame your face!
  • TWO: Then you want to make your first bubble. Depending on how long your hair is, you may want these close together or far apart. Then, wrap elastic and pull your hair out of the bottom elastic a little bit to start creating that bubble look.
  • THREE: This next part can be awkward as you see in my video — put your finger through one layer of the elastic tied around your pony. Using the other hand, grab a small piece of hair you can wrap around your pony to hide the elastic. Then tuck that piece of hair into the elastic you have pulled away from your pony — let go of elastic.
  • FOUR: You want to continue doing this with each bubble down the length of your pony. You can keep poofing and scrunching the pony to create the bubble effect.
  • FIVE: Finally, do the same steps for the other pony. You want to be sure elastics are at even levels so your bubbles are at about the same level on each pony.
  • NOTE: You may have loose hairs or parts of wrap-around hair stick out weird. You can just tuck them on the inside of the pony and keep going with your elastics.

I hope you love this simple hairstyle! If you try it – tag me on Instagram or Facebook! {@brittanylegette} I love to see you girls and your cute hair!!! As with anything, keep trying so you find your own style and groove with these hairstyles. Every head of hair is different!!

PS: you are beautiful.
